Why BASE?

Enthusiastic Instructors

BASE instructors are motivated, experienced and engaging individuals who are here to accommodate every aspect of your learning experience. BASE works tirelessly to provide you with a high-quality classroom environment that allows you to really use your developing language skills.

Truly Small Groups

While our tuition is already far less than any college-credit program, we are able to maintain small groups of approximately 8 students (less for online classes, and often there are just a handful) in your Spanish classes, unlike what you will find in other adult or continuing education programs, which can run courses with 12+ students. The larger the group, the more difficult it is to manage this key aspect of your goal of improving your Spanish conversation skills.

High-Quality Learning Experience with Group Compatibility

The small size of our Spanish classes allow us to focus on providing you with the opportunity to put your Spanish learning into conversation practice with Spanish teachers and classmates who have skills and interests compatible with yours. We provide detailed Spanish language assessments, to make sure you are in the right Spanish course. If there is an erroneous placement, if you are in the wrong Spanish course for your level and skills, you or your instructor need only to bring it to the attention of the Directors, and you'll be placed in the appropriate Spanish course.

We are local.  We are teacher-owned and teacher-run.

We are a small Boston-based business created in 2004 by a Colombian-American couple. The Spanish school has sustained itself by the sweat of teachers' brows in providing high-quality Spanish classes and by word of mouth among the families, friends, and colleagues of those enrolled in Spanish courses at BASE. There have been no investors and no flash. Just Spanish teachers getting it together to do our part to provide you with the personal and professional enrichment you seek through Spanish learning, at the same time bridging cultural and linguistic gaps in the Boston-area and beyond.

Flexibility

BASE offers you the flexibility that you need for you to learn Spanish on your terms. One of BASE’s many strengths is in our variety and the unique opportunity to at least sit in on other sessions if a class is missed.  Whereas most people sign up for weekday evening courses, we do offer daytime as well as Saturday morning and afternoon classes.

Private/Semi-Private Classes

Individual, as well two or three-student groups are also available.

Free language-related and cultural events

Even if you are not an active BASE student, you can practice and learn Spanish at the myriad cultural events in the Boston area including our own events.  Sign up for BASE's newsletter in order to receive announcements of events and courses.
