COVID Emergency Fund for Indigenous Communities @emmitabanks

La Guajira is one the poorest regions in Colombia where there is minimal access to health services. Our friends in the Wayuu indigenous communities have asked for our help as COVID-19 is hitting them hard. Last year, we raised funds to help people say home safely. This year, things are even more serious as COVID-19 is rapidly spreading in Wayuu communities.

Leaders are petitioning the government to provide vaccines in Wayuu communities, but so far they have been ignored. The communities we work with live in a coal mining zone, which means many people already suffer from respiratory disease, which makes them particularly vulnerable to the virus. Additionally, the dangerous Brazilian variant is now in La Guajira, which is increasing the rate of transmission.

All donations will go directly to communities to pay for medical treatment, purchase personal protective equipment, and help families with a sick loved one. Please help us provide emergency aid to these communities.
